Individual Therapy for Weathering Life’s Storms

Your Life Changed Before Your Mood Did

Something around you rearranged itself first.

Your teenager turned into somebody you have to negotiate with. Your parents started needing you the way you once needed them.

A grandchild moved into the room you’d finally finished emptying, or somebody you love died and took a whole daily routine out of the house with them.

The Evidence You’ve Been Collecting Against Yourself

The house got away from you, and so did the laundry, and so did the week.

You didn’t get a workout in. You’ve been keeping a private tally of these, and the tally says you’re failing.

So overwhelmed and so alone is how you’d put it, if anybody asked.

Then You Started Turning Left

You set out for a friend’s house, turned left at the corner out of pure habit, and ended up in the grocery store lot with your mind three conversations away.

That was the morning you decided something was wrong with you.

I’d rather know what moved.

What Would You Be Feeling if Nothing Had Moved?

A great deal of the depression and anxiety I sit with grew out of a life that got rearranged while the person inside it kept driving the old route.

The habits, the roles and the expectations you’re running were built for a household, a schedule and a body that have all quietly changed addresses.

So the tiredness and the worry arrive looking like proof you can’t cope.

I’ve been there. I get that.

Direct but Gentle Questions Get You Moving Again

Using direct but gentle questions, I’ll help you find your way forward. The first ones are small and practical, because relief comes before insight.

What do you say to yourself when you beat yourself up, and would you say it to somebody you love?

Which of this week’s misses actually cost anybody anything?

Your Patterns Are Older Than This Change

Further in, we’ll look at how things you stopped noticing years ago shape what you feel now.

We’ll take the same week and turn it a few degrees, until a stretch you’d filed under failure reads as something else.

Then you’ll carry one small thing into the week. Go to a movie by yourself, or just do something.

And you’ll come back with one good thing that happened.

What Changes When You Redraw Your Own Route

You’ll catch the turn before you take it.

A missed workout goes back to being a missed workout.

The words you reach for when you start running yourself down will be words you picked on purpose.

Many of the people I work with finish with more of a sense of peace, and then hear themselves handing the same questions to somebody else.

So What Moved for You?

That’s the question we’ll open with, and I’ve been alive forever, so I’ve heard a good number of the answers. If I’m not the right therapist for you, say so.

Life is a challenge, and I can help you get through it.

Fill out the form below and tell me what moved. You can do this, and I’m here for you.
